Welcome to the place your book gets born . . .

The Bookwifery Method includes six phases:

  • Conception
  • 1st Trimester
  • 2nd Trimester
  • 3rd Trimester
  • Delivery
  • Postnatal

No matter how far along you are, the Bookwifery Method grows your confidence as an author, keeps you moving forward on your book, and provides mindful space for discernment and soul care along the way.

Conception Phase

You have the idea for your book but need to flesh it out. In the Conception Phase, we determine your book's potential as you gather up the thoughts, ideas, and impressions you've been holding about your book.

As a result of our work together in this phase, we begin to articulate an emerging framework for your book and create a plan for you to write your first draft.

1st Trimester

The first trimester is the writing phase. Here, your main task is to complete the first full draft of your manuscript.

During this phase, we meet regularly to review the progress you’re making on your writing plan, to explore what you’re learning about the book and yourself as its author, and to make adjustments to your writing process as needed.

2nd Trimester

Once you finish your first full draft, we move into the 2nd Trimester, where we begin the first phase of editing and revision work. In this 2nd Trimester, your book receives a full developmental edit.

In a developmental edit, I focus on the content and structure of the book, applying a wideview lens to the project. I help you clarify your intention for the book and its audience and set you up for success for your first full revision of the manuscript.

3rd Trimester

In the 3rd Trimester, we get into the nitty-gritty details of the manuscript.

I complete a full content edit on the book, editing the manuscript line by line for clarity and precision. You complete one more revision based on my notes, queries, and suggestions. And then I follow along behind you, applying one last copy edit to the manuscript to ensure each word is prose perfect.

At the end of this phase, your book is ready for the eyes of an agent or publisher or for you to publish yourself.

Delivery

Whether you seek a traditional publisher for your book or opt to self-publish, we walk through the Delivery Phase together.

If you haven't yet clarified your publishing path, we begin by discerning your best publishing options. We take all we’ve learned about your book and your audience, along with your intentions for the future, and notice which publishing path contains the real invitation for you and your book.

Then, depending on the path you discern, you receive direction and support through the development of your book proposal or guidance and ongoing consultation through the pathway of self-publishing.

Postnatal Phase

Congratulations! Your book has made its entrance into the world by now, and it is your job to support its right to thrive in the world and to help it meet those it is meant to serve.

We continue in this phase on an as-needed basis to ensure you continue to execute your book's birth plan. Together, we notice what’s working and make adjustments, continually creating new channels of value for your book’s intended audience.
