Welcome to the place your book gets born . . .

The Bookwifery Method includes six phases:

  • Conception
  • 1st Trimester
  • 2nd Trimester
  • 3rd Trimester
  • Delivery
  • Postnatal

No matter how far along you are, the Bookwifery Method grows your confidence as an author, keeps you moving forward on your book, and provides mindful space for discernment and soul care along the way.

Conception Phase

You have the idea for your book but need to flesh it out. In the Conception Phase, we determine your book's potential as you gather up the thoughts, ideas, and impressions you've been holding about your book.

You also start considering the ideal reader for your book and review existing books in your category in order to help you discern the unique gifts your book will offer.

As a result of this work, we begin to articulate an emerging framework for the book and create a plan for you to write your first draft.

1st Trimester

The first trimester is the writing phase. Here, your main task is to complete the first full draft of your manuscript.

We meet monthly during this phase to review the progress you’re making on your writing plan, to explore what you’re learning about the book and yourself as its author, and to make adjustments to your writing process as needed.

2nd Trimester

Once you finish your first full draft, we move into the 2nd Trimester, where we begin to work on editing and revisions. Your book goes through several rounds of editing in this phase, gradually moving from a wideview lens, which focuses on the content and structure of the book, to a micro lens, where we sculpt and refine the details.

3rd Trimester

Publishing a book is about so much more than simply writing it. It includes owning your voice and your authority to write the book. It also asks that you develop a platform so the book can reach the people it's meant to serve.

In the 3rd Trimester, we develop your "birth plan" for how best to accomplish this, both before and after your book is born. We consider which online tools are most in alignment with your voice and how to use them with intention to reach your audience, and we consider offline opportunities that exist for you to share the message of your book.

In many ways, becoming an author is not unlike starting a business. The 3rd Trimester helps you make the transition.

Delivery

Whether you seek a traditional publisher for your book or opt to self-publish, we walk through the Delivery Phase together.

We begin by discerning your best publishing options. We take all we’ve learned about your book and your audience, along with your intentions for the future, and notice which publishing path contains the real invitation for you and your book.

Then, depending on the path you discern, you receive a publishing checklist tailored to that path and ongoing collaboration and consultation as you walk forward.

Postnatal Phase

Congratulations! Your book has made its entrance into the world by now, and it is your job to support its right to thrive in the world and to help it meet those it is meant to serve.

The work we completed in the 3rd Trimester serves you well during this Postnatal Phase, as it gave you the initial plan for a successful book launch.

Our work in this phase continues two to three months post-birth, where we ensure you continue to execute the birth plan, we notice together what’s working or not, and we adjust and create new channels of value for your book’s intended audience.
