2nd Trimester—Begin Your Publishing Path

In this phase of book pregnancy, you choose your publishing path, articulate your case for the book with increasing mastery, serve your audience with consistent presence, develop your book’s unique delivery plan, and complete the full manuscript.

3rd Trimester—Produce and Deliver the Book

In this phase of book pregnancy, the book is in production! This includes several rounds of editing and revision, book layout, cover design, and final proofs. You also begin to live into your book’s delivery plan and receive postnatal care after the book’s release.

  • Yes. In my experience, most people come into the process mainly thinking about their book. Many of them have written thousands of words already!

    But they don’t have a clear sense of who the book is for, the need that it meets compared to other books, or how they’re connecting to an audience as they work on it.

    All of these pieces are essential, and bringing a book to viable life requires the simultaneous tending of all of them.

    The Book Pregnancy Planning Guide ensures you put all of this in place from the start.

  • Both! The most important thing to remember is that no matter which path you choose, you need to simultaneously tend your book, your voice, and your audience. 

    This is because with traditional publishing, agents and publishers require:

    • Your clear vision, ownership, and plan for the book

    • Your awareness of the conversation space and where your voice fits in

    • Your vibrant platform with a direct connection to your audience

    For independent publishing, this is just as critical because:

    • You are investing your own belief, effort, and resources in its success 

    • You are wanting to ensure it is clear, valuable, and visible when it arrives

    Bookwifery helps you prepare for either option, providing you with guidance and resources for both.

  • Yes! Every author-in-progress at Bookwifery belongs to the Bookwifery Collective, which I host for 90 minutes every other week. (More details on this in the next question.)

    Additionally, each phase of the Bookwifery process provides 1:1 access to me, whether purchased up front as part of a bundle or added later in the process at the completion of clear milestones. These 1:1 sessions are where you receive my closest care and collaboration with you on your book project.

    Lastly, Bookwifery provides editorial services for authors along the way, which also happens closely with me.

  • The full gestational growth, development, and delivery of your book pregnancy is likely to require an investment of $5,000–$7,000 at Bookwifery.

    The numbers are variable because they depend on the length of the manuscript, the degree of editing required, and the publishing path you choose.

    The good news is, the costs are spread across your book pregnancy. You don’t pay for all of it at once. This ensures your investment follows your gestational stage, making room for its development at the pace of your life’s realities and needs.

    Over and above the guides and workbooks that support the Bookwifery process (find that information here), additional editorial fees range as follows:

    • Book proposal edit: $750

    • Developmental edit: $1,500–$3,000
